Doogee Y300 comes with plenty of equipment; some are standard and the other not so much. For instance, charger, USB cable, screen protector, user manual written in English and needle for removing the SIM are the standard stuff that comes with most of the smartphones these days. Headphones, on the other hand, are part of the non-standardised equipment, and we are glad that they came included in the box.

Doogee Y300 Design

The design and overall looks of the phone are vital aspects for customers all around the globe. Fortunately, this is the place where Doogee Y300 excels. Made from a combination of finest materials that are very durable this smartphone is a real looker. On the front and back Corning Gorilla glass covers the plastic of the phone, and on the side, the aluminum frame surrounds it.
Design wise, it shares much resemblance with Nokia’s Lumia 925 and Sony’s Xperia Z line of products. Copying some design elements from larger companies is nothing to be ashamed of as long as it’s not a blatant copy of some product. Doogee knew just how much they can borrow and, by adding some of their unique elements along with precision craftsmanship, Y300 has hit the jackpot.

On the bottom of the device, there are very loud and clear speakers, a micro USB port, and a microphone while the top of the phone houses 3.5mm headphone jack. On both top and the bottom, antenna stripes are located for the better reception while maintaining the beautiful design language.
Doogee logo is printed on the back of the phone, and the main camera with LED flash is located in the upper left corner. The material from which the phone is made of is very prone to fingertips and smudges. The good thing is that the phone is not slippery and with a thickness of only 6.9mmand weight of 145gr it feels great and secure in hand.

DOOGEE Y300 Review:

On the left side of the device, there are power and volume buttons made from aluminum as well. The right side houses SIM or micro SD card slot. On the front of the Doogee Y300, the first thing you will notice is the great looking display that is stretched from side to side, with minimal bezels. Bezels above and bellow the screen are a bit larger, but they do not violate overall looks of the phone. On the bezel above the screen, there are a front camera, a speakerphone, and several sensors. Capacitive buttons are nowhere to be found because this device has only on-screen buttons. Finally, the device comes in three different colors to choose from, black, white and champagne – each is beautiful in its way.

Display

Doogee Y300 has a 5-Inch capacitive IPS screen with the resolution of 1280×720. HD resolution is a perfect fit for this screen, considering it is a mid-range product, and it will spare the battery life on the long run.
Viewing angles are excellent, and contrast is on the par as well. Colors are pretty vivid, but you can change that if you want since it is an Android device and it features great customization options. The display is protected by Gorilla glass and extra screen protector is packed inside the box for even more security. And last, but not least, Y300 has an excellent 80% screen-to-body ratio.

Processor and RAM

Doogee Y300 runs on a 64-bit MediaTek’s MT6735 Quad-Core processor clocked on 1.3GHz coupled with Mali-T720 GPU for solid graphic performance. All this is backed by 2GB of fast RAM memory for multitasking.
This amount of horsepower is sufficient for browsing, watching HD videos and playing some games. The device tends to heat up a bit while playing heavy-animation 3D games, but nothing alarming.
For everyday tasks, Doogee Y300 is great, and it hasn’t shown any sign of sluggishness or lag but don’t expect miracles in the graphics department. We are very pleased with its performance overall.

Camera

Besides the design elements Doogee Y300 shares one more thing with Sony’s Xperia line of products and that is the Sony-made main camera. This camera is located on the back of the device and has the resolution of 8 Megapixels, and it is software interpolated up to 13-Megapixel. For high-quality images, the camera needs to have excellent hardware with great software. Luckily, Doogee Y300 played its cards right on this field as well.
Pictures are sharp with lots of fine details while color reproduction and white balance are good too. The dynamic range is not that good, but there is an HDR shooting mode that takes care of that. When shooting in the dark pictures tend to be noisy because of the lack of OIS but when shooting something that is closer LED flash helps a bit.

Overall, it is amongst the best shooters of its mid-range class.
The front camera is of 5-Megapixel resolution, and it is fine for self-portraits and video calling.
Video shot with the primary camera is of 1080p resolution, and it is rendered at 30fps. There isn’t anything revolutionary here, but it gets the job done.

Storage Capacity

Doogee Y300 comes with 32GB of onboard storage which is great because many mid-range smartphones these days are coming with only 16GB. In case you have a lot of games, apps, enjoy the multimedia and 32GB is not enough for you, you can always expand the storage via micro SD card. TF and micro SD cards can expand this smartphone’s storage with 32 of additional Gigabytes, and that is plenty for anyone.

Operating System (OS)

Many Chinese smartphones in this price range are running on older version of Android OS. Doogee Y300 is an exception in this department because it runs on the latest and greatest Android 6.0 Marshmallow. It means that it will be supported for longer and that it has several advantages over an older version of the OS. Dose Mode, Now On Tap, App Standby Feature are just some of the latest features that Marshmallow offer with plenty more in the background. On top of the Android 6.0, Doogee made its light-weight custom UI, and it runs great with little to no lag in all testing scenarios.
Another of the advantages is that you can download latest versions of apps made especially for Marshmallow. Naturally, Google Play Store is supported for downloading the apps and games, but you can install games from any other Android store of your choosing.

Connectivity

Doogee Y300 offers support for dual SIM cards and networks up to 4G LTE, which is the industry standard nowadays. Keep in mind that you can use only one SIM card if you want to expand your storage with micro SD card because they both occupy the same slot.
If you wish to browse the web and don’t want to spend your mobile data, you can always connect via Wi-Fi. Wireless network speed supported are 802.11 b/g/n. The device has Bluetooth 4.0 onboard, and you can obtain faster transfer speeds with it. GPS is onboard as well and with A-GPS assisting you can pinpoint your exact location in a matter of seconds.

Doogee Y300 Battery life

The smartphone is equipped with a non-removable 2200mAh lithium-ion battery. It doesn’t seem like much but keep in mind that screen resolution is not 1080p and that Android 6.0 with its power saving options is onboard. In our testing scenarios device lasted a day and a half of modest usage. Maybe it would last longer on a lighter usage, but we are pleased with the result nevertheless.

Additional Features

Doogee Y300 has broad codec support out of the box, and you can play many media files on it without the need for extra software. It also supports USB OTG, which can be an excellent tool for transferring large media files as well as connecting mouse and keyboard. Several sensors are onboard as well, like proximity, ambient light sensor, gravity sensor, and accelerometer. All these sensors work together to provide you with the best possible user experience.
